The narrative in this is spoken; the chorus is sung.

Fuge aus der Geographie (Geographical Fugue) by Ernst Toch - RATIBOR! Full disclosure: I've sung it in both English and German more than I have listened to it.

    Laurie Anderson's  "The Late Show"

Actually, Anderson invented a tape-bow violin to perform this song. A recording of William S. Burroughs on a tape saying the words "Listen to My Heartbeat."  The recording is then put on the bow of a violin with a playback system on the body of the violin -- what Laurie actually does in the song is play the violin, manipulating Burroughs' voice on tape. Amazing.

I adore Anderson. She is above almost everything I've ever heard in music. (I choreographed an award-winning dance for dancers to this song.)

I hope someone out there listens if they've never heard heard this song. No guarantee anyone will like it, though.

Thanks for listening, Element 99. And thanks for letting me know.  And I'm glad you liked it. Yup, Anderson can be weird but weird in such great ways for me. :) I really like the song. It was the first of several songs of hers that I've choreographed for dancers.  Seeing her in concert performing "The Late Show" simply on a violin is so cool -- hearing those words manipulated by her bow as she simply plays the violin in the very usual way. (The last line when Burroughs says the sentence completely- - "Listen to my Heartbeat" - -Anderson does one long horizontal left-to-right motion .)

I even have a big cool framed picture of her hanging on my bedroom wall.

Have a great day -- I have to go. Be Well  :)
